Calling All Creators: ONE FORTY-SIX

Growing a brand from the ground up.

Over the past month (since June 10th to be exact), I have produced a daily video series on my personal YouTube channel with the Neistat-like goal of creating an internet movie every single day.

Now no matter what screen you view your media on, there are a lot of convoluted motives behind the project. Many of those motives are plagued by greed, a burning desire for money or power. I am no stranger to these motives, and I can honestly say that 3 to 4 of the last 6 years were spent chasing those shallow things.

But I’ve learned from those years, and with many personal battles tagging along, I’ve ended up in a place of true honesty and intention — something that is not the majority of motivations in the media industry. The intention is now simple and self-focused: To create a movie every single day. This goal has taught me a lot, too! Just look at the first episode compared to a more recent one:

As you can see, the series has evolved from a vlog-style docu-series to a sit-down and talk movies kind of show. The videos that I find myself being drawn to making lately, on a consistent basis, are perfectly suited for a channel like One Forty-Six, a new media channel talking about the most awesome news from tech to movies.

On Monday, July 22nd, my daily video series will be fully re-branded to the new channel. This is something that, unbeknownst to the viewer, I’ve been working on behind-the-scenes for a few weeks now. One of my hopes for the series is that movie and tech-lovers like me will find it as a new home for reliable and enjoyable content, a community of like-minded people who enjoy the silly, comedic takes on awesome content.

In the age of new media, one of the first questions I’m asked is How is your channel different than the others? This is a good, valid question. I ask this of new channels and content everyday — we all do! Our time and attention is more valuable than ever before because of the amount of creators and content.

So here’s my answer: My videos are different because I’m different. The absolute, immeasurable production value that makes these videos unique is me. Whether it’s the silly jokes or faces I make in the videos, my actual opinion on an issue, or even how the videos look, that all stems from the lens through which I see and live my life. That is a lens exclusive to me and me only.

That said, I want to find lenses like mine! I can fulfill my goal of creating consistent content, but I need creative help in bringing my hopes to life!

  • To build a community of movie and tech-lovers!
  • To grow the channel beyond YouTube and Facebook Watch!
  • To embrace the ever-changing technology at our finger tips!
  • To change the show as the world changes, and not be afraid of testing something new!
  • To work with extraordinarily talented people who see the vision of One Forty-Six, and want to help it grow!

These are my hopes, and as the brand and vision of One Forty-Six grow clearer in the coming weeks, I look forward to working with incredible creators like you to build something we’re proud of.

See you Monday, July 22nd, at 1:30pm.
